Taking Initiative

In reference to what I am responding to go to Mrs.Kallas's Blog

1.
Initiative to me means that you do something that is helpful without being told to do so. You are able to do something on your own, not depending on nobody, you know what has to be done and you got that right away.

2.

1. Go straight to work with the students
2. Ask my mentor what help she needs
3.Go straight to working with a group or individuals
4.Ask any student if they need help
5. Catch up on what the kids are learning
6. Read the agenda
7.Do more than what is required
8.Help grade papers
9.Create a poster board
10.Go make copies for my mentor teacher

3.Synonyms
-ambition
-motivation
-spirit
-ingenuity
-dynamism

4.
This week what I did in my field site to show initiative was to go straight and work with a group of students to help them with their homework. Be able to explain to them in a more simpler way of how to do the work to show the answer. I also walked around the classroom to make sure that every student is doing what they are to do. I asked my teacher if she needed me to do anything, or she would just ask me if I was able to do something for her and I said yes. I got to grade some essays and she really appreciated it since some wrote in Spanish and she liked the way I corrected their spelling. She said that I am teaching her something since she didn't learn Spanish until she was 13. And by grading papers, it helped her have less paper to grade, and she doesn't have to worry about grading papers all at once. By helping the students in groups helped to understand the concept and have a different view of how to solve a problem, I also gave them problems so they could continue practicing to be sure that they understood how to solve it.

5.
Being a teacher requires having the initiative to be creative to be able to start a new concept and find a creative way to be able to teach in a way that the students will be able to understand as well as be able to like what they are learning. The students are going to need help so the teachers have to be able to take the initiative to ask who needs help. Being initiative means to have the responsibility to do something quickly, the teachers should have the responsibility to grade papers on time and have the grades put in on time.

What Would You Do?

In reference to what I am talking about go to Mrs.Kallas's Blog

Scenario 3

- What was wrong is that the intern decided that just because there is a substitute it was okay for that person to go to her other friend classroom to do homework, and not do anything.
-What should have been done is she should have continued the routine that is done every day as if the teacher was there. The teacher most likely didn't tell her she was going to be absent since she has trust that the intern would have done what is suppose to be done. And even if the substitute had told her that she didn't need her where she should have still stayed. She left and went to interrupt where the other intern was at and made that intern also not do anything. The other intern should have also told her "hey go do what you are supposed to" and the intern shouldn't have gone with her to the homework. They are there as interns to help out the other kids, not to go do homework.
